Чемпионат мира 2016 года по шахматам при участии Сергея Карякина и Магнуса Карлсена проходил с 11 по 30 ноября в Нью-Йорке. За отдельную плату можно было посмотреть трансляцию через веб, Android и iOS-приложение. Проект был срочный, и незадолго до начала чемпионата его организаторы, World Chess, попросили нас сделать Android-версию. Дизайн для iOS был готов, а серверная часть не имела документированного API для мобильного приложения и была в активной фазе доработки. До чемпионата оставалось две недели.
СРОКИ
Самое время паниковать
Наша команда имела на руках только дизайн для iOS-версии и его карту, на которой структура приложения показана через переходы с экрана на экран. Каждый экран в той или иной степени был переработан нами в соответствии со спецификой платформы Android.
Требовалось сделать приложение, в котором будут:
- Регистрация
- Покупки
- Дополнительные возможности только для авторизованных пользователей
- Шахматная доска с анимированными фигурами, с трансляцией ходов и возможностью перейти на любой шаг игры
- Интеграция видеотрансляции
- Чаты
- Игровая статистика с графиком
Главный экран
Приложение мог установить любой желающий. Функциональность приложения делилась на 4 типа: зарегистрированный пользователь, неавторизованный пользователь, авторизованный и тот, кто оформил подписку.

Первое, что видит зарегистрированный пользователь — это часы с отсчетом времени до начала следующей игры и новости.
Неавторизованный пользователь видит только экран с таймером и доску.
Пользователь, который авторизовался, но не купил подписку, имеет профиль, может почитать новости, видит счёт, может посмотреть старые матчи в архиве и купить подписку через приложение.
Авторизованный и оформивший подписку пользователь получает всю функциональность. На экране Standings отображается текущий счёт игроков.
Шахматная доска
На экране Board пользователь видит шахматную доску с перемещающимися фигурами, листает ходы вперёд и видит, какой ход может сделать гроссмейстер. Это предсказывает сторонний сервис, рассчитывая вероятность по специальной формуле.
Анимированы не только стандартные ходы, но и рокировка, замена пешки на срубленную фигуру и другие интересные ситуации.
Первые тесты показывали, что разница между реальным ходом и его отображением на доске составляла 30-60 секунд. После отладки её удалось сократить до 3-5 секунд.
Статистика
Экран Stats разбит на две части. В верхней части пользователь видит график, который показывает, на стороне какого игрока преимущество. Вертикальная ось показывает уровень преимущества, горизонтальная — время. График можно растягивать. В нижней части экрана игра оценивается по нескольким параметрам.
Анимация шахматных фигур и график преимущества игроков сделаны с помощью класса Canvas.
ТРАНСЛЯЦИЯ
Выбор из трех режимов
На экране Live пользователь выбирает тип видеотрансляции: обычный стрим через WebView с возможностью переключаться между несколькими камерами, просмотр через очки виртуальной реальности и 360-градусное видео, реализованные с помощью сторонней библиотеки. Трансляцию можно смотреть на русском языке.
Комментарии к игре
Читать и писать комментарии к игре можно на экране Comments. Переключатель Experts only оставляет на экране только замечания от экспертов. Среди них — чемпион Европы и России 2010 года Ян Непомнящий.
УСПЕХ
Виртуальные впечатления
Приложение для чемпионата мира по шахматам 2016 года впервые сделало какое-либо спортивное событие доступным через очки виртуальной реальности и в формате 360 градусов. Каждый из пользователей получил возможность посмотреть на доску и изучить в деталях атмосферу состязания.
Было много общения с пользователями приложения в Google Play, чьи замечания повлияли на улучшение приложения. Эта обратная связь сказалась на оценках — они начали расти. По нашей инициативе в приложении появилась возможность посмотреть архив игр и написать службе поддержки.

Нервы уже на пределе
Накануне двенадцатой игры счёт обоих соперников был равным: по 5,5 очков.

Исход чемпионата решился 30 ноября в тай-брейке: победил Магнус Карлсен.
